Roy Krummeck Services

ABATE of Jasper County South Carolina rolled out today to pay its respect to a great man. Roy Krummeck's funeral services were held today at The First Baptist Church in Bluffton, SC. A sorrowful, tearful event to reflect, focus and celebrate Roys life. The extensive resume of educational qualifications and the people he touched are not easily counted. Always smiling, caring and filled with life experiences, Roy will always be a loved part of our lives. Intellegent, articulate, attenitive and debating, Roy's spirit made him the great man that he was. I will miss Roy. He and Dr. Duece are in our hearts and prayers. This guy was "One of a kind" Over 100 people attended Roy's Service today. .

The memorial service for Roy will be at the 1st Baptist Church in Bluffton @ the four way stop sign. Saturday January 16 2010. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Church and the service will be at 2:00. Please get the word out. It would be really great if we could get a lot of bikes at the service. Several of us are planning to sign up for Alan Miller's ride and then go on to Roy's service and then rejoin Alan's ride. Liz also asked me to tell everyone that she would have people over to her house after the service. Roy's death notice was in today's Island Packet

January 2010 Newsletter

Good January to you. I hope this finds everyone well.
As the December installment was missing due to the negligence and utter procrastination of the scribe; you’ll find the update for past events will reach a little farther back than usual.
Our Thanksgiving Delivery was an uplifting experience. What a marvelous feeling it is to find, adopt & help out families that you know truly could use & deserves a hand during the holiday season. Our one “official” choice of family doubled down and became two families. Although it came as a surprise to most members, the addition was a necessary move & set us square with our Jasper A.B.A.T.E tradition. Thanks to all who came with. Your reward for bearing the weather was surely the warmth you felt while being with the families. This, my brothers & sisters, truly has to be the secret of life. Our Christmas Delivery is coming up quick & will roll right into the celebrations that is the Jasper A.B.A.T.E. Christmas Party; this year held at Chris & Jay’s. It’s a “covered dish” and BYO, so there’s sure to be plenty of good eats from the local culinary talent pool. I hope to see you at both functions. All updates and details can be conveniently gleaned from www.jasperabate.com

Thanks to Monty for keeping the site up to snuff.
Some coming events & dates to note; Jan. 9th  is the S.C. Rally For Freedom, Abate of S.C. Beast Of The East will be held April 9th- 11th in Greenville. There will be seminars and other points of interest going on during the event. This will begin at 12:00 on the 9th and end at 4:00 on the 11th. Jan 2nd is the BOD meeting. Please try to attend these meetings. Jasper Co.’s Frosty Balls ride is scheduled to take place Feb.20th. There will be more details announced and on the website as time gets closer.
On Jan. 16th, there will be a ride for Allan “Catfish” Miller. He recently found out he has cancer and has lost an eye to the disease. He is a self-employed contractor and was caught off-guard by this expensive situation. Allan is not a member of A.B.A.T.E., but he has always supported our functions & is a good friend to all that know him. We need to thank him for his years of supporting us by joining in with this ride and show him our support for him in his time of need. Sign-up will begin at 11:00 at Jocks in Bluffton. An account is set up in Allan’s name for donations to be made directly to him. You can contact me for more details.

Congratulations & Thanks go out to Michelle Varellie for taking on the new position of Products Coordinator. We have several different items available for purchase to support Jasper County A.B.A.T.E. and show it too. Please see the website for details & contact Michelle for help with your acquiring the goods.

Congratulations to The Wingmen Motorcycle Club, Savannah. They have expanded and opened a new chapter on this side of the river in Beaufort. The clubhouse is near the MCAS at the old Circle W bldg. They will be holding a Pork Chop Memorial party Jan 22nd thru Jan 24th with all A.B.A.T.E. invited. The Wingmen, Savannah have historically supported District 11 – A.B.A.T.E. of Georgia, but the Beaufort chapter will instead concentrate their support on A.B.A.T.E. of South Carolina in 2010. We thank them for all their support both past and present, and now…future. Good luck, guys.
Tommy Crowe of Bluffton is now riding free. Tommy set off early Sunday morning, the 12th, after loosing a long and hard fought battle. Our condolences to Tommy’s family; we’ll be missing a good friend and member.

Furthermore, as always, our meetings are held every second Saturday at 4 PM. We meet at The Confederate Railroad located at I-95’s Exit 33. Our next meeting will be held Jan. 9th. If you are not in Cola for the Rally, we will be having a pool tournament to follow this meeting. Please see flyer on home page for details. The tournament will begin at 5:00. Please join us if you can. We’d love to see you.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask each of you to thank your Legislative Coordinator for all they do. If there is ever a question on the point or purpose for A.B.A.T.E., just look to the Legislative Coordinator. Our state constitution says “The Legislative Coordinator works with the A.B.A.T.E. of South Carolina Coordinator and legislative committee to develop strategies and coordinate membership lobbying efforts.” While this stated responsibility is task enough, we also look to them for information & updates on what directly, or indirectly, affects our daily lives. After all the rallies, poker runs & parties, it’s the fight that we are here for, and it’s the Legislative Coordinator that keeps us on point. As our rights and freedoms vanish daily, it is the L.C.’s who guide us and direct our fire. It is the L.C.’s who rout out & expose the carefully hidden products of the ruling class. The illuminating of laws and codes that so conceitedly strip us of our liberty. So thanks to all the chapters’ L.C.’s & a big one to Cliff too. We appreciate all you do.
“Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” - Wendell Phillips, January 28, 1852

Thank you for your time.

Forever in Liberty

Rhodes Wins Myrtle Beach

www.wmbfnews.com/Global/story.asp?S=11523011

He's back again: Rhodes wins MB mayor race Updated: Nov 18, 2009 7:57 AM EST MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A hotly contested race for Myrtle Beach's top political spot has ended Tuesday night, as residents elected incumbent John Rhodes to an additional four years in office. Rhodes edged out former Myrtle Beach mayor Mark McBride in his re-election campaign in a 2,649 to 2,157 decision. Approximately 34.5 percent of eligible voters turned out at the polls Tuesday. "It was one of the most important elections for the City of Myrtle Beach - or in history - because of what it meant," said Rhodes just minutes after being reelected. "People were voting on who they wanted to be their leader, and that's why it's so important. They wanted to put Myrtle Beach in the hands of someone they felt could carry us forward and bring us to the next level." A run-off election was declared between the two by the Horry County Election Commission after neither candidate successfully secured 50 percent of votes during the city's original mayoral election on Nov. 3. Exit poll numbers revealed Rhodes received 2,540 votes, while McBride was awarded 1,472.
